Radial Shockwave Therapy
Arena Joondalup Physiotherapy are thrilled to add Extracorpereal Radial Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) to our list of services.
WHAT IS SHOCKWAVE THERAPY?
Radial Shockwave Therapy provides treatment to patients suffering from a range of chronic conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, and Achilles and PatellaTendinopathies, that are notoriously difficult to resolve. It is a simple and safe therapy.
HOW DOES SHOCKWAVE THERAPY WORK?
Shockwave therapy is basically high pressured acoustic shockwaves that travel through the skin to stimulate pain relief and healing. The small repetitive ‘shocks’ creates microtrauma which inturn promotes the processes within the tissues that helps healing.
WHAT DOES SHOCKWAVE THERAPY TREAT?
Most research has been done on the use of ESWT for Plantar Fasciitis, which has shown good results, particularly with recalcitrant conditions. There is also evidence for its use with Achilles and Patella Tendinopathies.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Due to the specialized nature of the treatment, there is an extra cost to this form of treatment. The standard protocol for Shockwave Therapy is 4 sessions of the specialized treatment over a 4 week period, coupled with some hands on therapy and exercise prescription, although this may vary from presentation to presentation.
At Arena Joondalup Physiotherapy we have done our best to limit this extra cost to our clients, well below comparative rates.
